Many of our low income elderly and disabled neighbors face tough decisions. Often they have to choose between paying a utility bill and paying for food or necessary medicines. Funds donated to Arkansas Energy Network are matched dollar-for-dollar by our partner utility companies. Every dollar that is donated (and matched) goes directly to customer assistance. Not one cent of donated or matched funds is used for administration of the program, our utility partners generously cover those fees separately. And because we are a 501(c)3 organization, your contributions are tax free to the extent allowed by applicable IRS codes.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and utility partners, AEN has, since its inception in 2007, granted over $2.30million to 14,000 households (20,000 people) in Arkansas who were experiencing a financial hardship. Assistance is limited to one time per calendar year, with a maximum grant of $150. Over 69% of households who have received assistance have utilized the program in just one program year. 19% of applicants have applied in 2 program years; the remaining 12% experience chronic hardships and have used our program 3 or more times in the past 5 years.
